Kenmore/Whirlpool Top Load Direct Drive Washer New Gearcase Noise

We recently installed a new Whirlpool gearcase (transmission) into a Kenmore (made by Whirlpool) top load, direct drive washer. Normally they are not too noisy. This one was very noisy. After checking with colleagues in the business and suppliers, we found that this has become more and more common lately. Whatever Whirlpool is doing in the manufacturing process, is different and causing the excesses noise. After a few weeks, this one quieted down, but heads up for new installations.
